After discovering a natural flair for working with wood as a young boy, I went to Rycotewood College gaining a diploma in furniture and design. From there I was recruited by Viscount David Linley becoming his first employee. I continued to work for David Linley Furniture Limited for the next 12 years, gaining valuable experience of prestigious fine-art furniture and high quality masterpiece production. I then went on to specialise in the making of Bespoke Lit Bateau and Sleigh beds and worked a further 3 years helping to build up that company in the Cotswolds.

Eventually I decided to set up my own workshop in order to be near my wife and family. I now have a workshop in Llandow, a small quiet area of South Wales between Cardiff and Swansea and with easy access to the M4 corridor. I have continued to specalise in the making of bespoke furniture and designing traditional furniture, contemporary furniture and fine-art furniture. Over several years I have invested in modern machinery and equipment to produce precision bespoke furniture to customers’ requirements.

I am proud to say that the company, Rathkey’s Limited, produce traditional, contemporary bespoke and marquerty furniture of outstanding quality. Our policy is to create bespoke furniture that is as individual as you are, for you to treasure and enjoy. With over 20 years of experience I have designed, manufactured and fitted bespoke furniture for many clients.

We offer all furniture and fittings manufactured to your own specifications in a wide selection of materials from specially selected wood veneers, on highly durable man-made materials, to solid wood. The timber selection currently available for both solid wood and veneers is Oak, Cherry, Beech, Ash, Maple, Walnut and Mahogany. Other timbers, if available, can also be considered. If you require a sample of any timbers please contact us and we will forward these to you.

Should you need your electrical or computer sockets relocated we can provide reliable electricians.

We also only use reliable plumbers and tilers.

We only use professional qualified tradesmen.

However, should you wish you use your trusted regulars then the choice is yours.

Our policy towards the Environment

We take great care to ensure that the wood we use is grown in sustainable managed woodlands, which means that when a tree is sawn another is planted in its place. This also helps the environment as young trees release more oxygen and absorb more carbon dioxide. Trees are the souls and lungs of our earth and we use woodlands where re-planting is standard practice. The environment needs looking after and therefore we will only buy our timber from suppliers who have the same policies at heart.
